Girl’s Pajamas Recalled by Elephantito Due to Violation of Federal Flammability Standard

WASHINGTON, D.C. – The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission, in cooperation with the firm named below, today announced a voluntary recall of the following consumer product. Consumers should stop using recalled products immediately unless otherwise instructed. It is illegal to resell or attempt to resell a recalled consumer product.

Name of Product: Girl’s Pajamas

Units: About 180

Importer: Elephantito, of Key Biscayne, Fla.

Manufacturer: Catalogo S.A.C., of Lima, Peru

Hazard: The pajamas fail to meet federal flammability standards for children’s sleepwear, posing a risk of burn injuries to children.

Incidents/Injuries: None reported.

Description: This recall involves children’s woven cotton pajama sets with style number JP 12 FL. The style number is printed on the garment’s hang tag. The sets are printed with a small pink flower and green leaf pattern with a short-sleeve, five-button shirt and a matching pair of shorts. The sets were sold in girl’s sizes 1 to 8.

Sold at: Children’s boutiques and specialty stores nationwide and online from August 2008 to September 2011 for between $30 and $45.

Manufactured in: Peru

Remedy: Consumers should immediately take the recalled pajamas from children and stop using them. Consumers can return the pajamas to the place of purchase for a full refund, exchange or store credit.
